THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST 3

THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST

SESSION 3

In the early 1900’s when the Pentecostal movement was beginning to become a wide moving wave across this world the people plead the Blood of Jesus. They believed that Pleading the Blood of Jesus would cause anxiety and puzzlement to the enemy of our souls and would shorten the time their prayers were delayed in getting to heaven. Many believed that the pleading of the Blood when people were seeking the baptism in the Holy Spirit would hasten the blessing coming into people’s lives. H. A. Maxwell Whyte, in his book “The Power of the Blood” states: “Pastor A. A. Boddy of Sunderland, England, on a return trip from the early Pentecostal outpouring in Norway under Pastor T. B. Barrett, said that nowhere in Europe where he had been had he seen people receive the baptism of the Spirit so easily and beautifully as by the pleading of the Blood of Jesus. This method was therefore introduced in his meetings in his Parish Hall, and people would even travel across the Atlantic to receive the Pentecostal experience by the pleading of the Blood – whereas they had failed to receive the Spirit by other means developed at that time.”

To sit in a chair and quietly and reverently plead the Blood of Jesus is to me an amazing thing. Mr. Whyte goes on to say, “Let me share with you a simple method for receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit which I share with seekers everywhere. First of all, it is important for you to relax every muscle in your body. Let all tenseness and uncertainty depart. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is Jesus’ work, and there is no reason for you to be tense. Then close your eyes and lift up your hands in adoration and worship; be comfortably seated, (they were all seated on the day of Pentecost) and take the precious Blood of Jesus on your lips and speak it with your tongue, making it your insistent plea. Be positive and believing in your approach.” Isn’t that amazing to you? Just sitting and softly and reverently saying the Blood of Jesus. That is definitely a sign and a wonder. We need to keep in mind that Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:11).

When we take into consideration what it says in Leviticus 17:11-14 about the life being in the blood and it is a sin to eat the blood, then we are able to see that when we plead the Blood of Jesus we are bringing His life into our life and the blood gives life. If we are honoring the Blood then we are honoring the life and if we are honoring the Life of Jesus then it follows that He will honor us. GLORY TO JESUS!

Romans 3:25 (God’s Word) - 25 God showed that Christ is the throne of mercy where God's approval is given through faith in Christ's blood. In his patience God waited to deal with sins committed in the past.

Notice that the scripture says “faith in Christ’s blood” brings us God’s approval. Faith in the Blood!

John 6:53-56 (NASB95) - 53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 "For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

Do you see that? Without His Blood we don’t have life. Without His Blood we don’t have eternal life. Without His Blood we can’t abide in Him. And if we can’t abide in Him then we can’t be commanded by Him to ask Him for something.

John 15:5 (Wuest Translation) - If you maintain a living communion with me and my words are at home in you, I command you to ask, at once, something for yourself, whatever your heart desires, and it will become yours.

Lest we think that using the Old Covenant Scriptures in speaking of the Blood is in error, read Exodus 12:24

Exodus 12:24 (NLT) - 24 “Remember, these instructions are a permanent law that you and your descendants must observe forever.

Is that speaking of putting blood on our door posts – NO! It is speaking of protecting ourselves with the Precious Blood of Jesus. The Lamb slain and His Blood is what we are to honor and to put upon our lives in order to be protected, brought close, baptized in the Holy Spirit and commanded to ask for blessings.

Now I would like for us to look at Seven Places Jesus Shed His Blood for Me.

SEVEN PLACES JESUS SHED HIS BLOOD FOR ME (AND YOU)

  1. IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE JESUS SHED HIS BLOOD, TO REDEEM MY WILL.

    1. Man’s will is:

      1. His own will, not God’s

      2. In bondage to sin

      3. Not a sovereign faculty

      4. Not his hope

    2. If our will isn’t set free then we are continuing to be bound to sin and we are without hope

    3. Matthew 26:39 (NASB95) - 39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."

  1. JESUS WAS WHIPPED, TO BREAK THE CURSE OF SICKNESS AND DISEASE FROM MY LIFE.

    1. Sickness & disease has to go in the Name of Jesus!

    2. 1 Peter 2:21-25 (WuestNT) - 21 For to this very thing were you called, because Christ also suffered on your behalf, leaving behind for you a model to imitate, in order that by close application you might follow in His footprints; who never in a single instance committed a sin, and in whose mouth, after careful scrutiny, there was found not even craftiness; who when His heart was being wounded with an accursed sting, and when He was being made the object of harsh rebuke and biting, never retaliated, and who while suffering never threatened, but rather kept on delivering all into the keeping of the One who judges righteously; who himself carried up to the Cross our sins in His body and offered himself there as on an altar, doing this in order that we, having died with respect to our sins, might live with respect to righteousness, by means of whose bleeding stripe you were healed, for you were as sheep that are going astray and are wandering about, but now have been turned back to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

  1. THE CROWN OF THORNS WAS PLACED ON JESUS’ BROW, TO BREAK THE CURSE OF POVERTY AND RELEASE ME INTO GOD’S ABUNDANCE.

    1. Abundance – more than enough, all our needs met and something left over to give to someone else

    2. Genesis 3:17-18 (NLT) - 17 And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains.

    1. Galatians 3:13 (God’s Word) - 13 Christ paid the price to free us from the curse that God's laws bring by becoming cursed instead of us. Scripture says, "Everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed."

  1. JESUS’ HANDS WERE PIERCED BY THE NAILS, TO RESTORE TOTAL DOMINION TO THE WORKS OF MY HANDS.

    1. Dominion – Authority - Power

    2. Deuteronomy 28:12-13 (NLT) - 12 The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. 13 If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.

  1. JESUS’ FEET WERE NAILED TO THE CROSS, TO RESTORE TOTAL DOMINION IN MY WALK.

    1. Walk the walk and talk the talk – but be sure you do both in the ways of God

    2. Joshua 1:3 (Douay-Rheims) - 3 I will deliver to you every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, as I have said to Moses.

  1. THE SPEAR WAS THRUST INTO JESUS’ SIDE, SHOWING THAT HE DIED FROM A BROKEN HEART, TO HEAL MY BROKEN HEART.

    1. When the Lord mends something that is broken, one can never tell it had ever been broken

    2. Luke 4:16 (WuestNT) - 16 And He came to Nazareth where He had been brought up. And He went according to His custom on the day of the sabbath into the synagogue and arose to read. And there was given Him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. And having unrolled the scroll, He found the place where it stood written, The Lord's Spirit is upon me because He anointed me, to announce good news to the poor. He has sent me on a mission to proclaim release to those held captive and recovery of sight to those who are blind, to send away in release those who are broken by calamity, to herald forth that epochal period of time which the Lord has chosen and in which He takes pleasure.

  1. JESUS BLED ON THE INSIDE WHEN HE WAS BEATEN AND BRUISED, TO BREAK EVERY INIQUITY, THE INNER DRIVE OF SIN, FROM MY LIFE.

    1. Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV) - 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

When you leave this evening take a few moments to quiet your heart, and head, and let the Spirit of the Living God minister to you. Allow Him to reveal to you His desires for you, the pleasures He takes from you and His willingness to enlarge upon both.

John 15:5 (WuestNT) - 5 As for myself, I am the vine. As for you, you are the branches. He who maintains a living communion with me and I with him, this one is bearing much fruit, because apart from me you are not able to be doing anything. If anyone is not maintaining a living communion with me, he was thrown outside as the branch is and was caused to wither. And they gather them and into the fire they throw them, and they are burned. If you maintain a living communion with me and my words are at home in you, I command you to ask, at once, something for yourself, whatever your heart desires, and it will become yours. In this my Father is glorified, namely, that you are bearing much fruit. So shall you become my disciples. Just as the Father loved me, I also loved you. Remain within the sphere of the love which is mine. If my commandments you keep, you will remain within the sphere of my love, just as I have kept the commandments of my Father and am remaining within the sphere of His love. These things have I spoken to you that the joy which is mine may be in you, and that your joy may be filled full, This is the commandment which is mine, namely, that you should be loving one another with a divine and self-sacrificial love just at I loved you. Greater love than this no one has, namely, that anyone lay down his life on behalf of his friends. As for you, friends of mine you are, if you habitually do that which I am enjoining upon you. No longer do I call you slaves, because the slave does not have an instinctive perception of what his master is doing. But you I have called friends, because all things which I heard from my Father I made known to you. You did not make me the object of your choice for yourselves, but I selected you out for myself, and I appointed you in order that you might be going away and constantly bearing fruit, and that your fruit might be remaining, in order that whatever you might ask the Father in my Name, He may give it you. These things I am enjoining upon you, namely, that you should be loving one another with a divine and self-sacrificial love.
